Shazam! (2019)

You know, you got to give DC some credit.  No matter how badly their movies do, they keep making them!  That's some guts, right there.  I think the only reason Wonder Woman did well was because of Gal Gadot, but, I have to admit, she was pretty spectacular.

Shazam! (2019) is about a foster child who's not really trusting of anyone.  He's looking for his real mom, who he lost long ago.  Then he takes a subway ride and ends up in the halls of the source of all magic, talking to an old wizard named Shazam, who just wants to give him all his magical powers, if only he'll put his hands on the old man's staff, and shout his name.

I think we can all relate to that one, huh?

You know what I liked about this movie?  The bad guy.  I mean, come on.  He's a little kid, total nerd, he makes one little mistake, and BAM.  A lifetime of regret.  Hey, none of us are perfect, right?  Spends his whole life trying to make up for it, and finally manages to find those awesome-looking monsters (I actually liked the monsters, too), and if that's not an epic hero quest, I don't know what is.  Then Shazam comes along, some stupid litle twit who doesn't have a clue, and screws it all up.  I don't know.  Maybe the reason the DC movies don't do well is because the villains are more relatable than the heroes are.  Meh.  What do I know, I dislike DC.  You want to check out Shazam for yourself, I caught it on HBO.

In other news, this past thursday was Thanksgiving!  Which means it's time for my annual I-am-thankful post.  What am I thankful for this year?  My bestie, and my other friends.  They helped me get through a lot this year.  I'm also thankful for my mom, despite her diminishing mental facilities, for sticking around as long as she can.  She can be a handful, annoying as hell sometimes, but I'd have a hard time paying the bills without her help.  I'm thankful for not being as needy this year, and for having the time to really think about what I do need to do.  I don't have the energy or the skill to do those things I need to do quite yet, but if I get the time, I'll keep working on it.  I'm sure there are other things I am thankful for that I am forgetting, but that should do it for now.

Happy Holidays, everybody! :-)  Until I find something else to post about!

Happy Halloween!

And OHMRAT 2023 ends just as it began.  With a quiet whimper.  Sadly, I had no time this month.  Too busy trying to stay alive.  But, I did ...
